ACLED is an independent, impartial conflict and protest monitoring organization providing real-time data and analysis on violent conflict and protest globally. We are seeking a Visualization and Digital Communication Specialist to join our Global Risk Center and transform complex datasets into compelling visual stories.
Key responsibilities
- Produce original, publishable quality maps, graphs, and visualizations of conflict patterns and analysis outputs.
- Update and refine guidelines for ACLED’s data visualizations to enhance our visual brand identity.
- Research new data visualization methods and software to keep our outputs at the forefront of visual trends.
- Transform complex datasets into compelling visual stories while ensuring accuracy in data application.
- Support outreach efforts by liaising with media, partners, and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, Geography, Conflict Studies, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience working within a research environment.
- Demonstrated experience with Tableau software and GIS, with knowledge of other data analysis tools as a plus.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, and high attention to detail.
- Experience working in a team, meeting tight deadlines, and operating with autonomy.
