Vice President of Engineering

ART2HIRE is seeking an experienced Vice President of Engineering to join a Silicon Valley-based industry leader in retail AI solutions. This role involves leading and growing globally distributed engineering teams to solve complex scaling challenges in a deep learning-first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a globally distributed engineering organization with a strong presence in Europe.
• Engage directly with architectural decisions, performance bottlenecks, and cost reduction strategies.
• Oversee scalable, data-heavy backend infrastructure using Python, FastAPI, and Kafka.
• Drive the development of CI/CD practices, deployment monitoring, and zero-downtime release strategies.
• Recruit, hire, and mentor exceptional engineering talent while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in distributed systems and software development.
• At least 5 years of experience leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong, hands-on proficiency in Python with the ability to write production-grade code.
• Deep expertise in data-intensive applications, microservices, and cloud deployments.
• Understanding of AI and machine learning techniques.
