vCISO Contractor- EMEA

Kobalt.io is seeking highly experienced virtual Chief Information Security Officers (vCISOs) to join their Alliance Network and lead strategic security initiatives for EMEA-based clients. This role is designed for senior cybersecurity leaders who are ready to provide executive-level security expertise to high-growth, technology-driven companies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and own comprehensive multi-year security roadmaps for diverse clients.
• Lead formal security risk assessments, define risk appetite, and establish effective mitigation strategies.
• Build, scale, and mature holistic security programs covering people, processes, and technology.
• Provide strategic guidance on security tool selection and manage security budgets effectively.
• Communicate complex security and risk topics clearly to both technical and non-technical executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• Proven track record in a vCISO or senior security leadership role.
• Deep expertise in European regulatory frameworks, specifically ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR, and DORA.
• Hands-on experience with GRC automation platforms such as Vanta or Drata.
• Strong ability to manage the full security lifecycle within a multi-client environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
