Underwriter

Hometap is a collaborative and innovative fintech company dedicated to making homeownership more accessible and less stressful. We provide homeowners with a unique home equity investment product that allows them to access their home's value without taking on debt, and we are looking for a detail-oriented Underwriter to join our fully remote team.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Sales and Processing teams to review homeowner applications with speed and accuracy.
• Evaluate applicant and property data against established underwriting criteria to make informed investment recommendations.
• Analyze appraisal reports to ensure compliance with guidelines, verifying market trends and property conditions.
• Identify and flag applications that present potential risks or missing information.
• Determine eligibility amounts based on comprehensive analysis of property and applicant profiles.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an underwriting role.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong fact-checking and proofreading abilities.
• Strong professional judgment and the ability to make decisions based on a defined rules rubric.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
• Genuine interest in the real estate and fintech sectors.
