Technical Standards Author

RITS is seeking a Technical Standards Author to join our team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting, refactoring, and maintaining AI-ready technical standards, ensuring they are clear, testable, and traceable for downstream Standards-as-Code artifacts.

Key responsibilities

• Decompose narrative standards into clear, atomic requirements suitable for GenAI-ready documentation.
• Draft precise conformance language, including mandatory and optional rules, exception logic, and reporting expectations.
• Ensure publication quality by creating text that is both human-readable and explicit enough for AI agents and validation tools.
• Develop compliant and non-compliant examples, remediation guidance, and templates to support priority standards.
• Maintain strict traceability between source standards, requirement cases, conformance suites, and evidence packs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including data modeling leads and product owners, to ensure requirements are practical and measurable.

Requirements

• Proven experience in technical writing, standards drafting, and requirements analysis.
• Ability to distinguish between policy, operational, and technical requirements while maintaining the correct level of enforceability.
• Proficiency in using normative language such as MUST, SHOULD, and MAY within conformance models.
• Strong capability to convert ambiguous narrative content into discrete, testable, and evidenceable requirements.
• Experience working with subject matter experts to define standards for data products, APIs, metadata, and data quality.
• Comfortable producing documentation designed for both human readers and AI-assisted workflows.
