Staff Software Engineer (Python)

DevsData LLC is seeking a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer to join a cybersecurity company focused on securing and supporting Linux infrastructure. In this role, you will take loosely defined business and technical challenges and transform them into robust production systems, acting as a primary engineer across various initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Translate ambiguous business and technical requirements into concrete, production-ready solutions.
• Design system architecture and make critical technical decisions for your projects.
• Develop and ship backend code primarily using Python.
• Define project scope, priorities, and technical trade-offs while collaborating with stakeholders.
• Monitor deployed solutions and iterate based on performance metrics and business needs.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including time at a Staff, Principal, or Tech Lead level.
• Strong hands-on backend development experience with proficiency in Python or a similar language like Go, Rust, or C++.
• Deep practical knowledge of Linux systems.
• Proven track record of managing a project from initial concept through architecture and implementation to production support.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools with a rigorous approach to validation.
