Staff Software Engineer

Vonage is a global leader in the cloud communications platform market, empowering businesses worldwide with innovative APIs and SDKs. As a Staff Software Engineer within our Foundation Engineering department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture of our cloud-native platform and driving technical excellence across our Registration, Numbers, and KYC domains.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the design and development of highly concurrent, distributed backend systems.
• Drive significant architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Lead performance optimization initiatives and resolve complex system-level challenges.
• Define and enforce coding standards and engineering best practices across the team.
• Act as a technical mentor, supporting the professional growth of engineers at all levels.

Requirements

• Extensive programming experience in Go or deep expertise in JVM technologies with a commitment to adopting Go.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems at scale.
• Deep expertise in highly concurrent, distributed architectures and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Prior experience as a Team Lead or Tech Lead with a track record of mentoring engineering talent.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
