Staff Software Engineer

Privacy is a virtual card platform dedicated to giving consumers and small businesses complete control over their online payments. We are building a future where every online transaction is secure by default, protecting our users from data breaches and unauthorized charges.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure high reliability and correctness for card processing systems.
• Analyze current system challenges and propose architectural improvements for future scaling.
• Drive large, multi-month engineering initiatives and roadmap planning.
• Lead efforts to improve internal systems and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional leaders to drive strategic planning.
• Participate in team on-call rotations to maintain platform stability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience shipping code in fast-paced production environments.
• Proven experience building event-based and advanced distributed systems.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for technical deliverables.
• Experience serving as a technical lead for a small team.
• Demonstrated success in leading large migration or re-architecting projects.
• Ability to mentor and coach engineers on distributed systems patterns and best practices.
