Staff Software Engineer

Zencoder is a universal AI platform dedicated to integrating generative coding workflows into existing developer infrastructure. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of software development by building scalable, intelligent tools that empower developers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a technical thought leader, setting a high bar for engineering quality and architectural clarity.
• Write production-grade code for new features, prototyping, and refactoring existing systems.
• Lead design discussions and architecture reviews for high-impact, complex projects.
• Collaborate with product, design, and research teams to evolve user-facing functionality.
• Mentor other engineers and influence engineering culture, driving best practices in testing, security, and observability.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering covering large-scale, production-grade systems.
• Expertise in at least one of JavaScript, Python, Rust, or JVM-based languages, with proficiency in at least two.
• Strong background in building and scaling distributed systems within AWS or Google Cloud environments.
• Demonstrated ability to simplify complex systems and reduce technical debt while maintaining high velocity.
• Deep familiarity with AI assistants and the ability to translate evolving AI capabilities into practical product improvements.
