Staff Software Engineer, Platform(Scala)

Sprout Social is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our backend engineering team. You will work at a massive scale, processing billions of requests and social messages while collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure service excellence and maintain robust, scalable technical foundations using Scala, MySQL, Clickhouse, Kafka, and AWS.
• Lead the team through complex technical roadmaps and champion initiatives to improve systems and delivery processes.
• Provide technical mentoring for engineers through pairing, documentation, and workshops.
• Proactively identify and address technical issues to ensure high-quality product delivery.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience developing and supporting software in a production environment.
• 5+ years of experience programming in object-oriented languages such as Scala or other JVM languages.
• 5+ years of experience with functional programming paradigms.
• 3+ years of experience leading engineering projects, including the design and implementation of distributed systems.
• Professional proficiency in English.
