Staff Engineer Python

Connectis is seeking an experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join a fast-growing, VC-backed conversational AI company. You will work on a real-time voice AI platform that is already deployed globally, helping to solve complex technical challenges in demanding acoustic environments.

Key responsibilities

• Owning core backend infrastructure within a complex, real-time distributed system built on Python and Rust.
• Leading large, complex initiatives end-to-end, including projects with evolving requirements, with minimal guidance.
• Resolving stability issues and highly complex production problems to drive down the incident rate.
• Managing technical responsibilities related to SOC 2 compliance and improving overall development velocity.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in Python development, including strong proficiency in Python Asyncio.
• Previous experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer at a startup company.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and Python profiling.
• Proven track record of delivering and troubleshooting production-grade, cloud-based distributed systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, gRPC, and various observability stacks.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive large, ambiguously defined projects from concept to delivery.
