Staff Backend Engineer, EMEA

As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across teams, solving complex architectural challenges and driving the modernization of our platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and delivery of large-scale backend initiatives that span multiple teams.
• Drive modular architecture strategy, modernizing legacy systems while preventing fragmentation.
• Define and improve engineering standards for APIs, security, performance, and observability.
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows with appropriate guardrails.
• Mentor senior and intermediate engineers to raise the overall technical capability of the team.

Requirements

• Proven record of technical leadership across multiple teams or broad product areas.
• Deep backend architecture experience in complex, high-scale distributed systems.
• Experience modernizing monoliths or legacy backends toward modular, reusable architectures.
• Strong ability to create alignment through clear written proposals and documentation.
• Production experience with AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows.
