Staff Backend Engineer, Aave App

Avara is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join the team building the Aave App, a consumer-focused savings platform designed to make onchain financial products intuitive and secure. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between complex blockchain protocols and user-facing applications, ensuring high reliability and performance for global financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services covering onboarding, funding, savings, withdrawals, and portfolio management.
• Develop transaction-orchestration and indexing services to safely monitor and reconcile onchain activity.
• Integrate with smart contracts, RPC providers, and payment partners while designing for system resilience.
• Lead technical reviews and enhance observability, testing, and deployment practices across the backend codebase.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver coherent, high-quality consumer experiences.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with a proven track record of owning complex production systems.
• Strong programming skills, with a preference for Rust, though experience in Go, C++, or Java is also valued.
• Expertise in building distributed, event-driven, or data-intensive systems with high reliability requirements.
• Deep knowledge of API/GraphQL design, relational databases, and modern observability tools.
• Experience with blockchain infrastructure, including transaction signing, wallet management, and onchain lifecycles.
