Hornet is the world's leading queer tech company, providing a digital home for gay men to connect safely across the globe. We are currently seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to manage our full-cycle accounting operations and support our continued growth as we scale our products and services.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable and revenue accounting, including booking app store revenue and ensuring timely collection of advertising income.
  • Oversee accounts payable and spend management by processing vendor invoices, executing payment runs, and maintaining compliance.
  • Own the general ledger, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for month-end and quarter-end closing processes.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and conduct budget-to-actual variance analysis to support informed decision-making.
  • Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and necessary compliance documentation to ensure financial integrity.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally within a subscription-based or app-based consumer business environment.
  • Strong technical accounting fundamentals in both US GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, lean environment while taking full ownership of assigned workstreams.
  • Proactive mindset focused on shaping processes and controls rather than just executing existing tasks.
  • Experience with Xero or similar accounting software and spend management tools is highly preferred.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to help shape products used by millions of people worldwide.
  • Collaboration with a diverse, inclusive, and mission-driven global team.
  • Full flexibility of a remote-first workplace environment.
  • A chance to make a meaningful impact on LGBTQ+ communities globally while growing alongside talented colleagues.
