Software Engineering Team Lead

M-KOPA is seeking a Software Engineering Team Lead to spearhead the development of critical infrastructure, including loan origination, compliance systems, and pricing platforms. You will lead a backend engineering team in a mission-driven environment, directly impacting financial inclusion for millions of customers across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers through the full software development lifecycle.
• Set architectural direction for event-driven microservices and cloud-native systems.
• Partner with Product Managers to plan roadmaps, prioritize features, and drive delivery.
• Foster a DevOps culture emphasizing infrastructure as code, observability, and automated testing.
• Own solutions end-to-end, from design ideation through to production and maintenance.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in C#/.NET backend development.
• Proven expertise in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Solid understanding of event-driven architecture and messaging technologies like Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to provide architectural guidance and shape technical strategy.
