Software Engineer (DevOps) - Database Reliability

Revolut is looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer with database expertise to join our Site Reliability team. You will play a crucial role in driving automation and building robust tooling to manage, scale, and maintain our database infrastructure, ensuring a seamless experience for millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop self-service database tools used by over 1,000 engineers across the organization.
• Build and optimize automation for database provisioning, scaling, and maintenance tasks.
• Lead and support incident response for production database issues to ensure high reliability and fast recovery.
• Deliver scalable, user-friendly platforms for configuration management and Infrastructure as Code.
• Implement advanced observability solutions for proactive system monitoring and performance optimization.

Requirements

• Extensive experience managing highly available PostgreSQL clusters on cloud or bare metal environments.
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, including query planning, indexing, performance tuning, and partitioning.
• Operational expertise in lifecycle tasks such as version upgrades, backup workflows, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Strong knowledge of database security practices, including TLS, auditing, and encryption.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues like replication lag, lock contention, and node failures.
