Software Engineer – AWS

LocalStack is a fast-growing startup revolutionizing cloud development by providing secure local sandboxes that simulate cloud environments. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our AWS Emulator team and help us build tools that enable developers to ship high-quality applications more efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Independently transition AWS services from moto-backed to first-party implementations with full API coverage.
• Reduce parity gaps by increasing snapshot-test coverage against real AWS services.
• Act as a first responder for owned services, triaging and resolving customer-reported parity bugs.
• Contribute to reusable test infrastructure and conformance harnesses to improve team-wide quality.
• Take end-to-end ownership of services, from design and implementation to ongoing maintenance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong fundamentals.
• Proven ability to work from written specifications against complex systems like APIs, protocols, or emulators.
• A strong testing mindset, using tests as a core tool for system design and validation.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding and agentic tools for building and shipping real software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive when working with incomplete information.
