Software Engineer - Data Infrastructure

Canonical is building a comprehensive automation suite to provide multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions for the enterprise. The data platform team develops a full range of data stores and technologies, focusing on fault-tolerant, mission-critical distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team to build robust data platform solutions.
• Write high-quality, idiomatic Python code to create and automate new features.
• Debug complex issues and interact with upstream open-source communities.
• Discuss technical ideas and collaborate on finding optimal solutions with talented engineers.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
• Strong practical experience working with distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for internal and external company events.
• Experience with Linux systems administration or operating Kubernetes clusters is highly valued.
