Software Developer for Bonsai (Innovation Hub)

JetBrains is seeking a talented Software Developer to join the Innovation Hub team working on ThinkRail, an ambitious project focused on developing a declarative programming language for AI-spec-driven development. You will play a key role in shaping the architecture and tooling of a system designed to enable the efficient creation of complex software while maintaining high standards of trust and flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evolve VS Code and IntelliJ IDEA plugins to support the ThinkRail ecosystem.
• Develop and maintain the language server, focusing on analysis, code completion, diagnostics, and verification.
• Improve the evaluator responsible for transforming specifications into code and managing spec-to-code drift.
• Integrate ThinkRail with modern AI agent frameworks and industry-standard protocols.

Requirements

• Ability to work effectively and communicate within a distributed team environment.
• Strong collaboration skills with an openness to diverse perspectives and the ability to support technical decisions with sound reasoning.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to development.
• Experience with developer tools, DSLs, static analysis, or editor plugin development is highly valued.
