Senior Technical Writer (Data Documentation)

JetBrains is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join the Data Office department, where you will play a pivotal role in making data resources, metrics, and internal tools accessible and easy to understand. You will be responsible for creating high-quality documentation, including data catalogs, SDK guides, and UI text, while driving process improvements and mentoring team members to elevate documentation standards across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Create clear, structured documentation for complex data ecosystems, metrics, and developer tools.
• Take ownership of documentation projects, from initial planning to final delivery and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve documentation processes, templates, and automation.
• Mentor junior writers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the department.
• Optimize content for both human readers and AI-based discovery tools.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in technical writing within software, IT, or data-focused domains.
• Strong technical foundation with proficiency in Git, Markdown, or XML and docs-as-code workflows.
• Proven ability to document APIs, SDKs, datasets, or complex technical systems.
• Excellent English communication skills with the ability to explain intricate topics to highly technical audiences.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
