Senior Staff Software Engineer

Housecall Pro is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our global team and help us build solutions that empower home service professionals. In this high-impact, fully remote role, you will serve as a key architectural leader, driving the long-term technical vision and guiding the evolution of our platform as we transition toward a modern, event-driven, domain-oriented architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a technical partner to the Engineering Director, overseeing multiple squads and proactively identifying risks and architectural improvements.
• Drive application performance, scalability, and reliability across core domain systems.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design high-performance architectures and establish clear sub-system boundaries.
• Develop and maintain high code quality standards while mentoring engineers across the organization.
• Lead cross-squad initiatives and represent our domains in company-wide architectural discussions.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems.
• Deep expertise in modern backend frameworks and proficiency in multiple programming languages.
• Proven success applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles across multiple teams.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and event-driven systems.
• Strong background in API design, system observability, and CI/CD pipeline optimization.
