Senior Software Engineer (Typescript), AI Clients: Duo CLI

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, enabling organizations to accelerate digital transformation and ship secure software faster. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Duo CLI team, you will design and build tools that integrate GitLab Duo into developers' daily terminal workflows, shaping AI-assisted experiences through high-quality TypeScript development.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition to implementation and rollout.
• Build interactive, scripting-friendly terminal experiences with a focus on clear command design and backward compatibility.
• Drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements for the CLI to ensure a seamless developer experience.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional engineering teams to align technical decisions with broader company strategy.
• Champion code quality and provide mentorship to other engineers while contributing to IDE extension projects when necessary.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and a genuine interest in developer tooling and CLI design.
• Proven experience building or maintaining command-line tools, including terminal user interfaces and output formatting.
• Ability to own technical problems end-to-end, make architectural trade-offs, and guide team members through code reviews.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with comfort working in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
