Senior Software Engineer (Python, AI-Assisted Development)

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in modernizing critical flight planning and navigation software. In this role, you will work within established systems to design, implement, and maintain high-reliability solutions, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to drive efficiency and innovation in our aviation products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy software solutions while managing the modernization of existing aviation systems.
• Utilize coding agents and AI-assisted tools throughout the development lifecycle, from refactoring and debugging to implementing new features.
• Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear technical designs and well-scoped tasks for both human and AI execution.
• Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability to ensure production-grade quality.
• Implement robust verification processes, including automated testing, static analysis, and observability, to maintain system stability.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering proficiency in Python or another general-purpose programming language.
• Proven experience in delivering and operating production software within cloud environments.
• Demonstrated success using coding agents to ship real changes in complex systems, with a critical eye for evaluating AI output.
• Ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems into actionable tasks with clear constraints and acceptance criteria.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD, security best practices, and maintainability in high-reliability environments.
