Senior Software Engineer (Platform/Scala)

Sprout Social is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help us build, scale, and maintain our platform at a massive, global scale. You will work within collaborative, cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges while processing billions of requests and social messages daily.

Key responsibilities

• Build, scale, and monitor our platform using technologies such as Scala, Python, Kafka, and Redis.
• Partner with product managers and designers to define requirements and deliver high-quality features.
• Improve internal processes, systems, and tools to enhance product delivery and technical direction.
• Mentor other engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical design feedback.
• Ensure project quality by maintaining high standards for testing, monitoring, and documentation.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience developing and supporting software in a production environment.
• 3 years of experience programming in object-oriented languages, specifically Scala or other JVM languages.
• 3 years of experience with functional programming paradigms and ecosystems like Scala Cats or ZIO.
• Professional proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building scalable, distributed backend services.
