Senior Software Engineer, Data

Beacon Biosignals is revolutionizing precision medicine for the brain by developing an at-home EEG platform and AI algorithms for biomarker discovery. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Datastore team, which serves as the foundational repository and API for clinical brain data used by scientists and partners worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and scale backend systems for data infrastructure, including event-driven pipelines and robust data modeling.
• Lead the integration of new services and components for data processing to support our expanding portfolio of clinical studies.
• Draft technical RFCs to guide complex feature discovery and align the team on architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with platform and application teams to implement APIs that unlock new workflows for digital health products.
• Improve operational robustness and system usability through documentation, internal tools, and dashboards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with at least 2 years focused on data engineering or data platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and production experience with PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Amazon Kinesis.
• Proficiency in a data-oriented programming language such as Python, Julia, or R.
• Experience deploying services in containerized environments using Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
