Senior Software Engineer, Card Authorization

Lithic is a modern card issuing and processing platform that empowers financial companies to build the future of payments. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Card Authorization team, which manages the real-time systems responsible for reliable and fast authorization decisions, fraud tooling, and 3D Secure integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Write reliable, secure, and scalable code for real-time authorization and fraud-prevention systems while minimizing technical debt.
• Build customer-facing features, including rules improvements, velocity controls, 3DS flows, and transaction monitoring, owning projects from planning to launch.
• Improve the overall reliability of systems within the team's scope and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Lead initiatives to enhance internal systems and development processes.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building production backend systems, with full-stack experience considered a plus.
• Experience in or a strong desire to learn Rust, alongside the ability to work with existing systems written in Python or Java.
• Interest in leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and development workflows.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, align diverse perspectives, and drive practical, high-impact solutions.
• Strong written communication skills and experience working effectively in a remote, async-first environment across time zones.
