Senior Software Development Engineer (Amazon)

N-iX is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the EBMS Real-Time Data Platform team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a high-throughput real-time data pipeline that processes telemetry from global building management systems, ensuring high availability and system reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize Apache Flink stream-processing applications for real-time data ingestion and transformation.
• Manage and maintain Amazon Kinesis Data Streams infrastructure, including auto-scaling and shard management.
• Implement comprehensive observability solutions using CloudWatch, Grafana, and distributed tracing to ensure 99% system uptime.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK or CloudFormation for repeatable deployments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across the entire data stack, including DynamoDB, S3, and Athena.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java with production-level experience in building distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Flink or similar stream-processing frameworks like Spark Streaming or Kafka Streams.
• Proven experience with Amazon Kinesis or equivalent messaging platforms.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts such as fault tolerance, exactly-once semantics, and backpressure management.
• Experience with AWS services including DynamoDB, S3, and IAM.
