Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Cloud and Networking) - Remote

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Cloud Networking SRE team. You will own the operational reliability of core cloud networking products, including NodeBalancer and the next-generation Network Load Balancer, ensuring high performance for thousands of customers at a global scale.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the SRE lifecycle for load balancing infrastructure, from design reviews to production deployment and ongoing reliability management.
• Design and implement SLO/SLI frameworks to monitor customer experience and drive improvements when error budgets are at risk.
• Lead technical incident response for complex failures, acting as a technical commander and conducting thorough root cause analysis.
• Develop automation and tooling using Python or Go to reduce operational toil and improve team-wide capabilities.
• Mentor SRE engineers, providing technical guidance and code reviews to elevate the team's overall SRE practices.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in SRE or infrastructure engineering, specifically working with large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Linux networking fundamentals, including routing, BGP, and packet-level diagnostics.
• Hands-on experience with L4/L7 load balancing technologies and high-availability configurations.
• Strong proficiency in Kubernetes and containerization, including networking and resource management at scale.
• Proven ability to build observability platforms and manage incident response processes in a production environment.
