Senior Security Engineer

Hummingbird is a remote-first, fully distributed team dedicated to fighting financial crime through an intuitive SaaS platform. We are looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join our Trust team and take ownership of our security infrastructure, protecting highly sensitive financial data in an evolving threat landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Lead security engineering efforts, including managing vulnerability tooling and enforcing robust controls within our AWS environment.
• Maintain an audit-ready infrastructure using Terraform to meet the high standards of our tier-1 financial institution clients.
• Develop and manage a comprehensive threat intelligence program, including incident response and disaster recovery planning.
• Collaborate with a senior engineering team to influence architectural decisions and hosting strategies.
• Address emerging security risks, including those related to AI-powered threats and internal AI tool governance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience, with at least 3–5 years in a dedicated security engineering or AppSec role.
• Strong proficiency with AWS and Terraform, with the ability to navigate complex infrastructure layers.
• Experience in network security, encryption, access controls, and high-level system architecture.
• A proactive mindset regarding the security implications of AI and a passion for solving complex, high-stakes problems.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative startup environment.
