Senior Rust Developer – Qt / C++ / FFI

Square One Resources is seeking a Senior Rust Developer to join a long-term project focused on developing production-grade solutions that bridge Rust and C++ with Qt 6. You will work in a review-driven engineering environment, tackling complex systems-level problems and focusing on memory safety, type systems, and robust API design.

Key responsibilities

• Develop production-quality Rust code and maintain idiomatic, safe Rust APIs.
• Build safe Rust wrappers around existing C++ functionality using FFI.
• Develop and maintain procedural macros using syn, quote, and proc-macro2.
• Manage ownership and object lifetimes across the Rust/C++ boundary.
• Maintain cross-platform Rust builds across Linux, Windows, and macOS.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience with Rust, including ownership, borrowing, and lifetime-parameterised APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Rust/C++ FFI and designing safe abstractions.
• Practical knowledge of procedural macros and public library API design.
• Strong understanding of semver, breaking-change management, and security threat modelling.
• Working knowledge of Qt 6 and C++17, with a disciplined approach to testing and documentation.
