Senior Product Manager, Chess AI

Chess.com is the world's leading platform for chess, serving over 200 million players globally. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our AI initiatives and shape the future of how our community learns and plays the game.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the AI/ML roadmap and long-term vision for products like Game Review, Play Coach, and FairPlay.
• Partner closely with engineering to define technical approaches, write clear specifications, and drive execution from concept to delivery.
• Operate in a fully remote, async environment by communicating clearly, brainstorming openly, and making decisive calls.
• Define success metrics and quality standards for AI features, balancing qualitative user feedback with quantitative model performance.
• Use AI tools to prototype, de-risk, and accelerate development before full engineering investment.

Requirements

• 7+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years shipping consumer-facing products powered by LLMs or ML models.
• Deep passion for chess and a strong understanding of what users at different skill levels need from AI-driven coaching tools.
• Technical fluency with the ability to collaborate on system architecture, evaluate models, and reason about data metrics.
• AI-native mindset, utilizing AI daily to prototype ideas and explore new product possibilities.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of managing multiple workstreams and stakeholders across different time zones.
