Senior Product Engineer

Memcare AS is a Norwegian technology company building software for the funeral industry. We are looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join our small team of experienced engineers, where you will have technical autonomy and the opportunity to design and implement solutions that directly impact our platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement features end-to-end while translating product requirements into sound technical solutions.
• Make technical decisions regarding module structure, APIs, data models, and implementation approaches.
• Analyze the impact of changes on the existing system to identify dependencies, risks, and potential regressions.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Customer Support, DevOps, and the CTO to ensure high deployment stability.
• Maintain pragmatic, coherent architecture while avoiding unnecessary overengineering.
• Investigate production issues and address their root causes while documenting important technical decisions.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of commercial experience as a Software or Product Engineer.
• Strong understanding of web application design, backend systems, relational databases, and system integrations.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools like Codex or Claude, with the ability to evaluate AI-generated code.
• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and domain consequences clearly to stakeholders.
• Fluent professional English communication skills.
• Pragmatic approach to architecture and technical debt.
