Senior Product Designer, Connect

Chess.com is the world's leading platform for chess, serving a global community of over 250 million players. We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Connect team and shape the social experiences that bring our players together.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design of high-impact features across web, iOS, and Android, including profiles, messaging, and social widgets.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to clarify requirements, navigate ambiguity, and influence the overall product direction.
• Think horizontally across the platform to ensure consistency, usability, and high-quality design standards.
• Proactively identify new product opportunities and translate them from initial concepts into well-articulated design solutions.
• Contribute to design critiques and mentor peers to elevate the overall craft and quality of the team's output.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer for consumer-facing products or games.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating mastery of UI fundamentals, including typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
• Proven ability to own complex projects from initial problem definition through to final implementation.
• Experience using modern design tools and prototyping workflows to iterate quickly and effectively.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and navigate cross-functional collaboration.
