SIL International is seeking a Senior Managing Editor to lead and coordinate editorial production across our academic publishing programs. This leadership role is essential for maintaining high standards of accuracy, clarity, and mission alignment while ensuring that all projects are delivered on schedule within a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee editorial workflows for multiple publications, managing the process from initial manuscript to final proof.
- Collaborate effectively with authors, designers, production staff, and marketing teams to manage project timelines and deliverables.
- Supervise in-house content editors, copyeditors, and proofreaders to ensure high-quality output.
- Implement and maintain editorial guidelines and processes to ensure consistency in voice, tone, and style across all publications.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success in managing complex editorial projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional skills in copyediting, line editing, and proofreading, with a strong understanding of style guides such as Chicago.
- Bachelor's degree, with advanced credentials in publishing or related disciplines preferred.
- At least 5 years of editorial experience in non-profit academic publishing or extensive experience as a published author.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote team.
