About the project

For our client from the banking sector, we are looking for an experienced Senior Java/Kotlin Developer to join a team responsible for developing and enhancing business-critical financial applications. You’ll work in an international environment, contributing to modern backend solutions that support digital banking services while collaborating closely with German-speaking stakeholders.

Your responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Kotlin

• Build scalable, secure, and high-performance microservices

• Develop and integrate REST APIs with internal and external banking systems

• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA engineers, and DevOps teams

• Participate in technical design discussions and architectural decisions

• Optimize application performance, reliability, and security

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code

• Support CI/CD processes and modern software delivery practices

Must-have requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience in backend development

• Strong knowledge of Java and Kotlin

• Experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem

• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices

• Solid knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar)

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines

• Understanding of software design patterns and clean architecture

• Experience working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban)

• German language skills at B2 level or higher

• English at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Experience in the banking or financial services industry

• Knowledge of Kafka or other messaging platforms

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture

• Knowledge of security standards used in financial systems
