(Senior) Java Developer - Freelance

Netguru is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a long-term project within the laboratory and biotech sector. You will operate as the primary backend developer, collaborating directly with the client's internal teams and laboratory stakeholders to modernize systems and define technical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Work independently as the sole backend engineer to refactor and modernize legacy systems.
• Improve and extend existing microservices and backend integrations.
• Maintain and develop both REST and SOAP interfaces.
• Communicate with laboratory teams and LIMS stakeholders to define project requirements.
• Ensure stable operation of backend services within a Kubernetes environment.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Strong architectural skills with a background in microservices.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes and designing REST/SOAP APIs.
• Solid understanding of refactoring and legacy code modernization.
• Excellent communication skills in English (C1 level) and residency in the European Union.
