Senior Java Backend Developer

CGI is looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer to join a consulting team focused on the modernization and stabilization of a mission-critical banking system. This role is ideal for an expert who thrives on complex technical upgrades and large-scale enterprise system migrations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze existing application architecture, dependencies, and configurations to identify and mitigate upgrade impacts.
• Refactor and optimize legacy code to ensure full compatibility with modern Java Enterprise versions.
• Collaborate closely with architects, QA, and DevOps teams to facilitate smooth integration, testing, and deployment processes.
• Document comprehensive upgrade steps, migration guidelines, and technical resolutions for future reference.
• Provide expert guidance and support knowledge transfer to client technical teams following the upgrade.

Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional Java development experience within complex enterprise environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Java EE/Jakarta EE technologies, specifically EJB and major application servers like JBoss, WildFly, or WebSphere.
• Proven track record of successfully executing application upgrade or migration projects for mission-critical systems.
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, deployment pipelines, and performance tuning techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a preference for experience in the financial services sector.
