Senior FastAPI Engineer

comm1t is seeking a Senior FastAPI Engineer to join a growing technology company that develops advanced AI software for legal and professional services. You will play a key role in building backend services that transform AI capabilities into reliable product features, focusing on document processing, LLM orchestration, and high-performance API development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Build complex workflows for document retrieval, LLM orchestration, and response streaming.
• Design asynchronous pipelines for document ingestion and embedding generation.
• Implement evaluation mechanisms to measure and improve the quality of AI-generated outputs.
• Address performance bottlenecks and ensure secure handling of confidential customer data.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in backend system development.
• At least 6 years of Python expertise and 3 years of hands-on experience with FastAPI.
• Strong practical knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, and Redis.
• Deep understanding of asynchronous processing, system reliability, and designing for failure.
• Experience with LLM-based systems or a strong motivation to work with RAG, agents, and tool-calling.
