Senior Engineer, Software

AlphaSense is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help evolve the search platform that powers market intelligence for thousands of enterprise customers. You will play a pivotal role in architecting and scaling distributed systems capable of handling billions of documents and high-throughput queries with millisecond latency.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and optimize infrastructure to handle massive datasets and high-frequency search queries.
• Lead the migration from legacy systems to modern, scalable architectures while ensuring zero downtime.
• Establish engineering excellence through comprehensive monitoring, automated testing, and robust deployment practices.
• Profile and tune system performance from the infrastructure level up to the application layer to balance cost and efficiency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems in production environments.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems fundamentals, including sharding, replication, and consistency models.
• Strong performance optimization skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve bottlenecks across the stack.
• Proven experience with large-scale data platforms, real-time processing, or database internals.
• Excellence in building observable systems with advanced monitoring and alerting capabilities.
