Senior Embedded/Firmware Engineer (freelance)

intent is a team of experts designing and co-creating connected devices, including wearables, smart audio, and health-tech hardware. We are looking for a Senior Embedded/Firmware Engineer to join us on a freelance basis, with a potential path to a permanent role.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and ship firmware for connected devices such as wearables and health-tech hardware.
• Gather and analyze requirements from clients, translating them into functional solutions on real silicon.
• Consult with clients and internal teams regarding stacks, tools, and technical trade-offs.
• Collaborate with mobile, backend, and QA teams to ensure seamless device integration over BLE.
• Estimate work, flag risks, and promote best practices like code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Utilize AI tools as a daily multiplier to enhance development efficiency.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional firmware development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with ESP32 (ESP-IDF/ESP-ADF) and STM32 in production projects.
• Solid knowledge of Bluetooth (BLE, Bluetooth Mesh) and IoT protocols like MQTT and WebSockets.
• Fluency in toolchains including CMake, GCC, and Python-based tooling.
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2+ level) to work with international clients.
