Senior DevOps Engineer
TellentPolska
About the role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Tellent, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we build, run, and scale our platform. Tellent brings together Recruitee TellentHR to help organizations attract, hire, and grow great teams. You’ll work hands-on across our cloud infrastructure, collaborating closely with engineering teams — bringing an automation, observability, and security-aware mindset to everything we do.
About the team
You’ll join a small, experienced DevOps team responsible for keeping our platform stable, efficient, and developer-friendly. We operate with high autonomy and embrace the “you build it, you run it” culture — empowering teams through automation, monitoring, and clear ownership. We think that security, reliability, performance and transparency are shared responsibilities: we continuously improve our detection, response, and audit readiness together with engineering. We work remotely first, but hybrid or office-based collaboration is possible. Our work hours are flexible with a core block reserved for synchronisation — 10 am–4 pm. Because we're remote-first, we rely heavily on asynchronous communication. We share context openly — explaining our reasoning, updating progress, and managing expectations of the teams we support. This makes our work visible, builds trust, and ensures continuity — especially critical during on-call handoffs.
Your journey
- First 3 Months: Learn our GCP, AWS and Kubernetes environments, Terraform structure, and GitHub Actions pipelines. Follow our onboarding process and provide feedback to it. You will get your first simple tasks, providing the real value in 2 weeks. Receive support and navigation from other DevOps team members. Meet the team & important stakeholders. After those 3 months you will join the on-call rotation, to understand our production systems even deeper. And last but not least — every now and then we close the laptops, meet in person, and share good food and stories.
- Within 6 Months: You independently lead projects — scoping work, breaking it into deliverables, and communicating progress to the team. Focus areas include infrastructure automation, observability, and reliability improvements. You contribute to incident troubleshooting. Enhance workload security by integrating AIkido findings, strengthening detection, and hardening configurations. Take part in security audits and conduct post-mortem reviews, helping identify and close gaps.
- After 1 Year: Be a key voice shaping Tellent’s platform direction — ensuring bulletproof monitoring, secure and self-healing systems, and scalable, well-documented infrastructure. Influence microservice design and platform standards across teams, embedding security and reliability from the start.
What you'll be doing
- Own and drive infrastructure projects end-to-end — from breaking down the problem into subtasks, through implementation, to communicating results to stakeholders. We don't just "do tasks"; we solve problems and explain how and why.
- Evolve Kubernetes (with Argo) and cloud infrastructure — mostly GCP.
- Take part in cloud infrastructure unification.
- Develop and maintain Terraform configurations for scalable, reliable systems.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Strengthen observability with OpenTelemetry and Datadog.
- Integrate and act on insights from AIkido and other security tools to detect and mitigate issues within workloads.
- Support and tune PostgreSQL and other managed databases used by our applications.
- Collaborate with engineering teams — proactively communicate progress, share context, and manage expectations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues as part of our on-call rotation.
- Participate in internal and external security audits, ensuring our systems meet compliance and resilience standards.
- Drive SRE and GitOps principles — from post-mortems to automation and clear documentation.
What you bring
- Solid experience operating in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD practices.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tooling (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus).
- You know your way around managing RDBMSs (we use Postgres).
- Comfort working in Ubuntu/Linux-based systems.
- AI as a daily tool — you actively use AI assistants and automation to move faster, solve problems, and reduce toil. You understand their strengths and limitations, and you're always looking for new ways to leverage them.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a calm, collaborative approach to resolving production incidents.
- Self-management skills — you can break down ambiguous problems into concrete steps, prioritize your work, and drive projects forward without constant direction.
- Excellent async communication — you proactively share your thinking process, progress, and decisions in writing.
- You manage stakeholder expectations, make your work visible, and ensure others can pick up where you left off. In a remote team, written communication is how we build trust, share knowledge, and maintain continuity.
- Can-do attitude, curiosity, craftsmanship spirit.
- Fluent Polish intermediate or higher English.
Nice to have
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Familiarity with cloud workload security tools (e.g., Aikido, GCP Security Command Center) and vulnerability management.
- Background in distributed systems or large-scale architecture.
- Previous experience as a backend developer (Elixir, Node.js, or similar).
