Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL and MySQL Focus)

CommIT is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our team, focusing on the design, deployment, and optimization of highly available PostgreSQL and MySQL database systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in cloud-native environments and enjoys solving complex data challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL databases in production environments.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization of database systems.
• Perform database migrations between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues across development, testing, and production environments.
• Implement database monitoring, backup strategies, and security best practices.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams on schema design, query tuning, and ETL pipelines.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL in production environments.
• Experience with at least one public cloud platform, including managed database services like RDS or Cloud SQL.
• Strong SQL skills with a solid understanding of indexing, query optimization, and partitioning.
• Proven knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, replication, and high-availability configurations.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.
• Experience supporting database migration projects.
