Senior Data Scientist

Lemnis is a public charity dedicated to expanding learning for all through transformative change. We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Mainstay division, where you will play a pivotal role in building predictive models and analyzing conversational data to drive meaningful impact for our partners and end users.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and ship predictive signals that drive real action within partner systems.
• Build and monitor predictive models, ensuring performance across diverse student populations.
• Analyze conversational and unstructured data using clustering, classification, and embeddings to surface actionable insights.
• Own the in-warehouse AI configuration and establish robust evaluation frameworks for data team projects.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure models are maintainable, reproducible, and integrated into operational workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and owning predictive models with a focus on calibration and threshold-setting.
• Practical experience in NLP, including text classification, clustering, and embeddings.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for modeling and analysis.
• Experience with modern cloud warehouses and productionizing model outputs.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
