Senior Data Scientist, Places

Raya is a technology company dedicated to building utility-focused products, including the Places app, which helps global travelers discover curated locations through community trust. As the first dedicated Senior Data Scientist for the Places team, you will have the unique opportunity to build data solutions from the ground up and shape how the entire organization utilizes insights to drive product growth and user retention.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve success metrics for all user-facing surfaces, balancing short-term gains with long-term member value.
• Partner with Data Engineering to translate product requirements into scalable, reliable data assets that empower efficient decision-making.
• Influence product roadmap prioritization by uncovering actionable insights and translating them into clear, strategic recommendations.
• Establish a culture of high-fidelity experimentation to scale product wins quickly and effectively.
• Leverage AI-native tools and LLMs to automate analysis, accelerate experimentation, and build scalable decision-support workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science and product analytics within a consumer-focused environment.
• Strong technical fluency in SQL and Python, with a proven ability to answer open-ended business questions using data.
• Solid background in applied statistics, including hypothesis testing, causal inference, and power analysis.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex statistical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Practical experience or strong curiosity regarding the use of modern AI tools to improve analytical workflows and strategic synthesis.
