Senior Data Scientist – LLM / Clinical NLP

Vecten is an AI-native technology partner working with global healthcare organizations to build proprietary data infrastructure and deploy advanced AI solutions. We are currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our client's team, a US-based healthcare data company, to focus on clinical NLP and LLM-driven data extraction from real-world electronic health records.

Key responsibilities

• Build and improve LLM- and transformer-based pipelines for structured data extraction from clinical notes, including NER and relation extraction.
• Evaluate models rigorously using gold-standard datasets, error analysis, and metrics trusted by clinicians.
• Fine-tune, deploy, and monitor production-grade machine learning models.
• Collaborate with Medical and Product teams to translate clinical questions into concrete model requirements.
• Communicate complex technical results and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Biostatistics.
• Approximately 5 years of hands-on experience in data science or ML, with a track record of deploying models on real-world data.
• Proficiency in NLP with transformer encoders and generative LLMs, including prompt design, fine-tuning, and RAG.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Fluent English and the ability to present findings effectively to cross-functional teams.
• Experience with EHR data or clinical coding systems like ICD or CPT is strongly preferred.
