Senior Data Platform Engineer

Motife is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join an established international technology company. You will take operational ownership of a self-hosted data platform that processes high-throughput, real-time data at a massive global scale, working within a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take operational ownership of a self-hosted production data platform running on Kubernetes.
• Administer and support distributed data technologies such as PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redpanda, Elasticsearch, Druid, Spark, and Airflow.
• Monitor data ingestion, streaming, storage, replication, capacity, and performance to ensure system reliability.
• Diagnose production problems, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement preventive improvements.
• Automate infrastructure and platform configuration using tools like Terraform, Helm, and Kustomize.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience administering or supporting production data systems such as PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redpanda, Spark, or Airflow.
• Practical exposure to Kubernetes, including deploying, supporting, or troubleshooting applications.
• Understanding of operational concepts like data flows, partitioning, replication, and performance recovery.
• Experience monitoring production systems, resolving technical incidents, and automating operational work.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently and communicate clearly in English.
