Senior Data Architect / Data Engineer

Work Model: 100% Remote

Project Duration: August 17, 2026 – January 29, 2027

About the Client & Role

On behalf of our client—a leading global SaaS provider in the marketing automation and customer engagement space—we are seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect / Data Engineer.

Our client serves thousands of businesses worldwide, helping them power data-driven marketing campaigns and customer interactions. To keep pace with rapid growth, they are investing heavily in modernizing and scaling their analytics and reporting platform to handle billions of events across multiple products and data sources.

Project Overview

As a Senior Data Architect / Data Engineer, you will lead the strategic reporting migration initiative. You will evaluate the existing multi-store architecture (built on Apache Druid, MySQL, and Kafka), define the target analytics architecture, and work closely with engineering teams to implement high-performance, real-time reporting solutions at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Assessment & Design: Evaluate the current multi-store reporting ecosystem and architect a scalable, high-performance reporting solution capable of processing billions of events.

  • Data Modeling & Enrichment: Define advanced analytical data modeling strategies and design efficient patterns for event enrichment using metadata from diverse sources.

  • Aggregations at Scale: Implement high-efficiency approaches for calculating unique counts (e.g., HyperLogLog) and complex analytical aggregations.

  • Real-Time Analytics: Provide technical direction and architectural patterns for real-time and near real-time data processing pipelines.

  • Implementation & Migration: Work alongside engineering teams to implement proposed designs, support data migration activities, and ensure reporting consistency throughout the transition.

  • Technical Leadership: Drive best practices in data quality, observability, and performance optimization while mentoring and guiding junior/mid-level engineers.

Requirements

Must-Have Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or related roles.

  • Strong hands-on expertise with Apache Druid.

  • Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.

  • Deep understanding of large-scale analytical data modeling and distributed data systems.

  • Proven experience designing real-time or near real-time reporting platforms.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and MySQL.

  • Proven track record of processing and analyzing billions of events.

  • Ability to independently audit legacy architectures, identify bottlenecks, and propose target-state solutions.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and clear communication abilities.

  • Fluent English (written and spoken, B2+/C1 level).

Should-Have

  • Experience with Apache Flink and stream processing architectures.

  • Experience with real-time data enrichment and dimensional modeling.

  • Practical knowledge of scalable unique-count solutions (e.g., HyperLogLog or similar probabilistic algorithms).

  • Exposure to modern cloud data platforms and analytics architectures.

  • Background in mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with ClickHouse.

  • Familiarity with modern lakehouse architectures and open table formats (e.g., Apache Iceberg).

  • Prior domain background in SaaS, MarTech, or customer engagement platforms.

  • Hands-on experience executing large-scale data and reporting migrations.
