Senior Data Engineer (Google Cloud Platform)

Job Description

Are you passionate about transforming data into meaningful insights and building high-performance cloud solutions? We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will play a key role in designing and implementing advanced data architectures within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You’ll work in a dynamic, international environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient data-driven systems.

Key Responsibilities & Skills

• Lead the design and development of cloud-based data pipelines, ensuring efficient ingestion and transformation of data from diverse sources such as APIs, databases, or real-time streams.
• Use your deep understanding of GCP infrastructure and services to architect robust, maintainable data solutions.
• Apply strong SQL and database design expertise – with BigQuery as a core technology – alongside experience in NoSQL environments.
• Develop and optimize code in Python (and other scripting languages as needed) for automation and data manipulation.
• Apply data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning techniques to ensure speed and scalability.
• Build, orchestrate, and monitor workflows using Apache Airflow or similar scheduling tools.
• Implement ETL/ELT processes and use data transformation frameworks such as DBT or Dataform to deliver clean, analytics-ready datasets.
• Collaborate closely with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders, clearly communicating complex technical topics in a concise and approachable way.
• Participate in client discussions to identify new opportunities for process improvement and data optimization.
• Work effectively in a multinational, distributed setup, following agile principles and modern development practices.
• Demonstrate familiarity with everyday engineering tools: Git, Jira, Confluence, and CI/CD processes.
• Maintain a growth mindset and openness to exploring new data technologies and methodologies.

Desired Background

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer in cloud-focused projects.
• Proven success in designing and maintaining large-scale data infrastructure in GCP.
• Advanced English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Professional certifications in GCP or big data technologies.
• Practical experience with BI platforms (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with ETL tools such as Talend or Alteryx.
• Exposure to Apache Spark, Databricks, and Azure ecosystems.
