Senior Data Engineer (AI-Native) — Data Layer

Proton is building the AI operating system for wholesale distribution, unifying CRM, PIM, and AI-driven workflows into a single, powerful platform. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve our Data Layer, the foundational architecture that powers our products and AI brain.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end Data Layer, including ingestion from diverse sources, medallion-style modeling, and the serving layer.
• Build and operate reliable ELT pipelines using modern orchestration frameworks and cloud data warehouses.
• Model data to ensure it is trustworthy, stable, and queryable for downstream teams and AI models.
• Leverage AI coding agents to scope, structure, and ship production-quality code with high efficiency.
• Implement robust validation, reconciliation, and lineage systems to maintain high data integrity.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience as a data engineer with a track record of production ownership.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and programming, with the ability to optimize queries and debug complex data issues.
• Experience ingesting data from file-based, event-driven, and API-based sources.
• Deep understanding of data consistency, idempotency, schema drift, and backfill strategies.
• Proven experience using agentic development tools to accelerate software delivery.
• Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, startup-oriented mindset.
