Senior Data Engineer – Speech Data Sourcing

CSHARK is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a project for a technology company specializing in on-device audio and speech products. In this role, you will take full ownership of the speech data acquisition process, managing end-to-end recording campaigns and ensuring that high-quality datasets are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining strict legal compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage speech data vendors, overseeing the entire process from initial sourcing and scoping to final delivery.
• Define recording protocols, establish acceptance criteria, and implement rigorous quality control measures for all incoming data.
• Plan and track data acquisition budgets to ensure project efficiency.
• Develop and maintain Python pipelines for the processing, validation, and versioning of audio and metadata.
• Ensure full compliance with GDPR, licensing requirements, and consent protocols regarding biometric data.

Requirements

• Proven experience in data engineering, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in audio or speech data.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with dataset versioning tools such as DVC.
• Experience managing external data vendors or annotation and recording service providers.
• Strong understanding of data quality control processes and acceptance workflows.
• Knowledge of GDPR, data licensing, and consent management, particularly concerning biometric information.
• Fluent English communication skills.
